Great Nettle (Urtica dioica)
Nettle has been used as a medicinal plant for centuries. Traditionally, nettle was used in treatment of muscle and joint pains, arthritis, anemia, gout and eczema. Nowadays, Nettle is mainly used in relieving the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Applied topically, leaves can relieve joint pain and can therefore be useful in treatment of osteoarthritis. Due to high contents of iron, Nettle can be used as a herbal remedy against anemia. It is also used in treatment of sinusitis, rhinitis, alopecia, and various skin disorders (such as eczema). It is sometimes recommended against heavy menstrual bleeding. Safety: Some herbs could react with certain medication. Therefore, it is advisable to consult your doctor before consumption of any herb.
